Two students from our Saturday group lessons had the opportunity
to take 2 of our lovely horses to a competition on Sunday the
1st of November. Riding in the Chickens class (60cm)
The day started out
overcast and raining with Hannah and Katie having to warm up in the
rain. Both girls where nervous as this was there first time riding
away from the school.
Both Girls rode a fantastic cross country course with Katie
riding a clear round on Charlie and Hannah having water issues with
Shep (it was too scary to walk into the water) but after persisting
she managed to convince him that is was ok (well done), they rode
clear around the rest of the course (although being eliminated at
the water jump). Hannah had a clear round on the Show jump course
and rode Shep well. Kate rode Charlie extremely well but got lost on
the course and jumped the wrong jump (oooops). This was a fantastic
learning experience for both the girls, they both had a blast.
Two of the staff also rode at the hunter tail Ashley rode Missy
in the 70cm class. Although having some issues with the show jumping
round, Missy and Ash has a blast on the Cross country course.
Showing that you can’t keep a good rider down. Well done for getting
back on.
Chrissy rode Monty
in the 70cm and 95cm class this being the first time Monty has
jumped 95cm he did so well only having an issue with the dark scary
shadows from the trees over the jumps.
A Brief History
Northern Districts Riding School has been operating
in Burpengary for the past 11 years where it has grown with the
times.
Owned by Brian Munro, NDRS is set on 30
acres with specifically designed arenas and yards where riders can
enjoy a safe ride in a fun atmosphere.
As a youngster Brian and his family had a
successful riding school at Arana Hills but given the chance, Brian
branched out to Burpengary on his own. He now runs
approximately 40 horses which keep him busy 7 days a week.
Brian has expanded his passion of livestock to cattle. He owns
dozens of cows and calves at any one time which he not only sells
on at sales, but uses for his own meat supply. He has also
branched out to many other fields including Auctionering, looking to
support and improve the riding school along the way.
Not only does NDRS offer a range of lessons, we
cater for group trail rides, special occassion rides, night
rides and special holiday programs. We offer private and
group tuition for beginners and advanced riders, horse
breaking and training, saddlery sales, horse sales and the
opportunity to work within a fun and exciting industry .
